I have been a homemaker for 25 years and the one thing I know to be true is that creating a beautiful home and life doesn't have to cost a fortune.
You already have things in your home that you love. Find ways to display those beloved treasures so they become focal points. If they are functional items, use them daily and enjoy them rather than saving them for special occasions.
Every day is a special occasion!
Keep your home clean and sparkly.
Even the humblest of homes can become charming in appearance with a few minor improvements. Think sparkling windows, polished floors, fragrant, and clean.
Reuse, repurpose and recycle.
You can repurpose sheets to create curtains, tablecloths, napkins or braided rag-rugs. You can dye material to a color of your choice - clothing or otherwise. Browse Pinterest for ideas on ways to recycle furniture to create unique items for your home.
Paint is an inexpensive, yet versatile way to create a drastic change in your home. You can create a look of simplicity with white or a pastel color of your choice. You can go dramatic with deeper tones or create a calming ambiance with shades found in nature. It's all up to you!
Look for treasures in unexpected places.
Yard sales, thrift shops, and estate sales are all options to finding unique furnishing and decor. Think outside the box. If it's not expensive, yet you love it - buy it....even if you don't know how you can use it yet. It will come to you. Don't discount the treasures that can be found in dollar stores! I have found some lovely items for my home there.
It's not about the money! A beautiful life can be created out of next to nothing if you are patient, creative and enjoy DIY projects.
